QoP #170: to the Hills!

This week we start at the Fountainbridge canal basin, just outside Biketrax. There's some building works going on there, but you'll find us! Then we're off to Swanston, on the edge of the Pentlands. The hills are a lot closer than you think, and while there's a bit of uphill it will be nothing you can't easily manage, and the rewards are almost boundless: little bits of history on the way - grand views - hielan' coos - a ghost story (and maybe even a ghost??) - and, best of all, a long downhill cruise back to the start.

As usual, this is a strictly no-drop ride and we will wait at key points to keep the group together. These group rides are more about claiming some precious & potholed tarmac space, rather than chasing QOMs. The only essential thing to bring is a working bike - any type will do. It may be summer but fully charged lights are always a must for your way home, and we encourage you to wear a helmet! A small request that everyone checks their brakes beforehand as we want to keep you all safe. A spare tube to fix a flat tyre is a must and some tools would be grand but there will always be someone with tools to help out if you need to borrow anything (if disaster strikes, you will get help)
