Hello Queens!
Once again Eve has picked out a classic QoP route, Adna's famous tour of Calton Hill, Arthur's Seat and Castlehill, starting and finishing at the lower entrance to John Lewis, just in front of St Mary's RC Cathedral. The clocks have just gone back so when better to take the opportunity to gaze down on our beautiful City at Night from three world-famous viewpoints?
We'll be taking this ride at our relaxed community pace. As always, it's a strictly no-drop ride and we will wait at key points to keep the group together. Our group rides are more about claiming some precious & potholed tarmac space, rather than chasing QOMs. The only essential things to bring are a working bike (any type will do) and fully charged lights (cos it'll be dark). We also encourage you to wear a helmet! A small request that everyone checks their brakes beforehand as we want to keep you all safe. A spare tube to fix a flat tyre is a must and some tools would be grand but there will always be someone with tools to help out if you need to borrow anything (if disaster strikes, you will get help).
Our rides are completely self supported which means we will be there for you as best we can but by signing up for this ride, you agree that Queens of Pain and the ride leaders are not responsible for your safety - you are ultimately responsible for your own safety and well being.

Hello Queens!
As we all draw breath after the cultural frenzy of the last few weeks, join Eve for a gentle spin around north Edinburgh. With no hills to speak of, and most of it on easy cyclepaths, this route is so chilled it even looks like a tortoise (a bit)! Meeting point is on John's Place, at the north corner of Leith Links.
As usual, this is a strictly no-drop ride and we will wait at key points to keep the group together. These group rides are more about claiming some precious & potholed tarmac space, rather than chasing QOMs. The only essential thing to bring is a working bike - any type will do. It may still be summer but fully charged lights are always a must for your way home, and we encourage you to wear a helmet! A spare tube to fix a flat tyre is a must and some tools would be grand but there will always be someone with tools to help out if you need to borrow anything (if disaster strikes, you will get help)

Here's the route for tomorrow. We'll be pausing briefly a couple of times to look at two historic houses in Musselburgh (unless they lock the gates at night!), but otherwise it's an easy, almost flat cycle down to the seaside. https://www.komoot.com/tour/1766169477?share_token=apodGhrspMmSCr5fEfZyREFD4dMpBjipS7xOWEyVVRAXIwJyVJ&ref=wtd

Hello!
This week we're back in Portobello, and will cycle out to Musselburgh, probs coming back along the seafront. The route has still to be finalised and I will post it here later but, as usual with me, you can expect a couple of brief stops for a wee bit of history.
We will meet on the west side of the pond, by the viewing point - here's the map location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ezSbeVdGXN8CcbYh9

This week we start at the Fountainbridge canal basin, just outside Biketrax. There's some building works going on there, but you'll find us! Then we're off to Swanston, on the edge of the Pentlands. The hills are a lot closer than you think, and while there's a bit of uphill it will be nothing you can't easily manage, and the rewards are almost boundless: little bits of history on the way - grand views - hielan' coos - a ghost story (and maybe even a ghost??) - and, best of all, a long downhill cruise back to the start.

This week we are starting from John Lewis, just in front of St Mary's RC Cathedral. I'll post the route tomorrow or Tuesday (hence the mystery), but with me you know there'll be a short pause somewhere to tell you a wee story about Embra's past. And it won't be anything too strenuous - in fact, it will be just what you know you need on a Wednesday evening.
As always, this is a strictly no-drop ride and we will wait at key points to keep the group together.. These group rides are more about claiming some precious & potholed tarmac space, rather than chasing QoMs. The only essential thing to bring is a working bike - any type will do. We're into long evenings now, but fully charged lights are always a good idea, and we encourage you to wear a helmet! A small request that everyone checks their brakes beforehand as we want to keep you all safe. A spare tube to fix a flat tyre is a must and some tools would be grand but there will always be someone with tools to help out if you need to borrow anything (if disaster strikes, you will get help).

Hello everyone,
Hopefully. we'll miss the showers on Wednesday, but there is a watery theme as we head south to the base of the Pentlands, following the line of Edinburgh's first piped water supply (well, with me there's always going to be a bit of history). There's a bit of uphill (though nothing like Arthur's Seat!), a chance of spotting the ghost on White Lady Walk, and maybe some Highland calves too! The return, of course, will mostly be a downhill breeze. I'll finalise and post the route tomorrow.
